Australian 10%

1. 10% of the fibre in this product comes from recycled de-inked waste paper, which is supplied to Australian Paper by Amcor.

2. The waste paper is sourced entirely within Australia, so its use benefits the Australian environment directly, by reducing Australian landfill. Imported papers do nothing to help the Australian environment in this way.

3. The recycled de-inked fibre comes from a mix of pre and post consumer sources. According to the definitions of Australian Standard AS4082, nearly all of the recycled waste contains post consumer and printed waste paper. This is genuine waste. No papermill, converting trim, papermill waste, faulty product, returns or similar materials are counted in the recycled content percentage.

4. Waste from either pre or post-consumer sources is effective in reducing landfill, and equally beneficial to the environment.

5. The recycle fibre is brightened using FAS (formamidine sulfinic acid), a chlorine-free process.

6. The other 90% of the fibre in Australian 10% is new fibre, some of which is imported and some is produced at Maryvale. The imported new fibre is sourced from sustainably managed plantations, in New Zealand, and South America, and all certified by FSC (Forest Stewardship Council). It is bleached using elemental chlorine free (ECF) processes.

7. The local new fibre comes from plantations, re-growth forest and wood waste. No wood from old growth forests is used.

8. 64% of Maryvale's local wood supplies are FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified.
